Mom used to make this banana pudding for my sister and me when we were kids. She always mashed the bananas because neither of us liked banana slices in it. The recipe came from her mother, and years later she sent me a picture of the old recipe card — worn, stained, and clearly loved from being used so many times over the many years.

Add Flour, Sugar, Milk, Butter, Vanilla and Egg yolks to a medium saucepan
Place pan over medium heat.
Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until you begin to see small bubbles forming around the edges
Continue stirring just until mixture thickens to pudding-like consistency
Remove from heat
Add mashed Bananas to pudding mixture
2 Egg Whites
6 Tablespoons of Sugar
Add egg whites and sugar to mixer or can use hand mixer
Beat till forms stiff peaks
To bowl add layer Vanilla Wafers
Next layer pudding
Continue with layers till all of pudding mixture is gone
Top with meringue
Optionally brown meringue with propane torch or in oven on broil
Refrigerate and server chilled
Our second recipe, a banana recipe using cool whip and pudding mix, a popular one her family and friends would always request on any holiday or get together. Two family favorite Banana pudding recipes, both with bananas, both with vanilla wafers…. The old fashion from scratch recipe I grew with (Mom) and the quicker easier version my mother-in-law made (Moms). Both recipes turn out amazing. This recipe is surprisingly good, and addictive.

Add the banana pudding mix, vanilla pudding mix, milk, and sweetened condensed milk to a mixing bowl.
Mix on medium speed until the mixture becomes thick and smooth, like pudding.
Gently fold in the Cool Whip until fully combined and creamy.
To large bowl place layer of vanilla wafers
Second layer of sliced bananas
Third layer Pudding mixture
Continue with layers till pudding mixture is gone
Refrigerate and serve chilled
