Charles Dickey Barker BBQ Sauce Recipe

My husband’s mother’s late brother Charles Dickey Barker was quite the character, and we finally got around to trying the family recipe a few years back, and we have been making it each time we smoke meats or serve with precooked mini sausages.


Stuff you need, our version:

  • 2 18oz. Kraft Original BBQ Sauce or any other original BBQ sauce with no added flavorings
  • 2 Medium Onion chopped
  • 2 Jalapenos de seeded chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Honey
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 2Tbs. Worchester Sauce
  • 2Tbs. A1 Steak sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Beer of your choice
  • 4 Tbs. butter

Original Recipe as dictated below, add to taste as needed:

  • 1 Bottle Kraft BBQ Sauce
  • 1 Cup of Honey
  • Lemon Juice
  • Diced Onions/Garlic
  • A1 Sauce
  • Worcestershire
  • Beer

      Sauté chopped onion and Jalapenos in butter till soft and translucent
      Pour onion and Jalapenos into blender and puree
      Pour pureed mixture into saucepan
      Over medium-low heat add 2 bottles of BBQ sauce, honey, brown sugar, worchester sauce, A1 Steak sauce and Beer
      Stir to combine well
      Reduce heat to low and cook for one hour stirring occasionally
