If you were around in the 80’s and 90’s, going to the mall meant at least stopping by to get a treat despite all the boring clothes shopping. One of the things literally chose every time was Tiger Butter, a creamy vanilla fudge, with accents of chocolate and Peanut Butter. It really all comes together magically, and to me does not resemble what one would consider fudge, it is premium confection, sorry fudge, one notch above you.
Anyway, back at the mall, they sold this by the ounce, and back then, it was very expensive (~$1.00 per oz), so all I could usually talk my parents into is sharing a small ounce block with my sister which angered me. They would proudly weight each block, slowly removing Tiger Butter until it got down to what we could afford. Daydream at the time post leaving was, “What if we had only gotten all that Tiger Butter that was on the scale?”. Wrap our little block into a small wax paper like it was its own gift to humanity, they even placed a small sticker with their logo over it.
Fast forward into today when we are supposed to have flying cars, at least we finally found out that this premium confection can me be made rather cheaply, for under 7 bucks, you can make 6 ounces. I know what you are saying, hey that is still over a dollar an ounce, sorry, do not control inflation! If you are lucky enough to have a mall, go check our their sweet stop prices and report back with a comment on current prices, guessing upwards of $5.00 per ounce these days.
We added these confections to a Birthday Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake Recipe for our daughter.
