Cajun Tator Tot Casserole

If you need a dinner that practically cooks itself while your family acts like they’re starving to death, this creamy, cheesy Cajun Tater Tot Casserole is your new weeknight hero. It starts with crispy tater tots — the golden nuggets of the freezer aisle — and then we smother them in a rich, savory mixture of ground beef, onions, cream of mushroom soup, and Cajun seasoning. Basically, it’s what happens when comfort food and chaos fall in love.

The whole thing gets buried under a blanket of melty cheese so thick it could qualify as emotional support dairy. Pop it in the oven, let it get bubbly and beautiful, and boom — dinner is served, and everyone suddenly forgets they were “literally about to pass out.”

STUFF YOU WILL NEED

  • 1 28 oz bag cooked tater tots ( cook according to the directions)
  • 2 lbs. Browned hamburger meat drained
  • 2 Tablespoons Cajun Seasoning
  • 2 10.5 oz. Cans Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 Can of Milk 10.5 oz
  • 1 Medium or 3/4 of large Onion Chopped
  • 12 oz shredded cheese

DIRECTIONS

Cook the tater tots according to the package directions, then set them aside.
In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
Add the diced onions and cook until they’re soft and translucent.
Drain off any excess grease from the skillet.
Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and Cajun seasoning. Cook until the mixture is heated through and creamy.
Spread the cooked tater tots evenly in a 9×13 baking dish.
Pour the beef mixture evenly over the tater tots.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top.
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly browned.
